About Ubiquitous Agriculture
Ubiquitous Agriculture (u-Agri)   is a step towards next generation precision farming. It is an initiative focusing on the application of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) to different areas of the agricultural sector. u-Agri seeks to enhance existing methodologies of agriculture through the use of low cost sensor networks which permeate the farm environment and provide macro and micro climate information specific to the crop being cultivated. This information, in conjunction with crop specific decision rules, aids the development of Decision Support Systems (DSS) which provide timely advisories to farmers through established communication networks like Internet, SMS, Radio etc. u-Agri seeks to explore a plethora of applications in agriculture spanning important crops, providing optimal regulation of pesticide, fertilizer and irrigation.

Objectives
  • Research in Wireless Sensor Networks for agricultural applications
  • Development of low power, robust, scalable and standalone WSN architecture which facilitates the aggregation of weather data from remote agricultural farms
  • Collaborating with agricultural experts for domain expertise in the design, development and deployment of the system
  • Developing a web interface that provides farm information and decision support advisories anytime, anywhere
